An upbeat message was the last tweet sent by Chilean entrepreneur Felipe Cubillos through the social network Twitter, before disappearing with 20 other people onboard a Chilean Air Force (FACH)CASA C-212 that crashed off the coast of the Juan Fernández archipelago.
The Twitter message translated read (@felipenavegante): “Travelling now to the island of Juan Fernandez with the support of our Air Force. We continue to work to help the people of the island,” said the businessman and promoter of the “Desafío Levantemos Chile” (Raise Up/Lift Up Chile Challenge).
The message was recorded at 9:00 am on Friday morning, about four hours before the departure of the aircraft heading for the islands where Cubillos and waiting passengers would be participating in a ceremony celebrating the reconstruction work following the extensive damage caused by the February 27th 2010 earthquake and tsunami.
